These brilliant artworks come from Ricardo Santos an Illustrator/Art Director working for Portugal’s Turbo Magazine. He is able to combine his love of cars and motorsport, especially those of the ’80s with his clear talent for design.
The shape of racing cars has been the subject of endless technical and aesthetic discussion and race liveries have an important part to play, complimenting the contours of the car and giving teams their unique identity.
Ricardo has a very clean, technical and corporate look about his work and I feel this style suits the motorsport publishing industry. Just picture any professional racing team workshop, you would not find a single tool or part out of place. Corporate graphic design adopts the same philosophy, clean and clinical, everything in its place.
These Motorsport illustrations by Ricardo Santos are on sale via the Society6 website. There you will find prints of the classic Jim Clark 1962 Lotus, Niki Lauda’s 1984 McLaren, the iconic Audi Quattro S1 and many more.
