Shine from Misfit Wearables is a micro sized fitness tracker that can sense your movements and measure your swim strokes, bike pedals and distance traveled when walking or running.
Mobile phone sports apps like Endomundo and Strava are great tools for measuring activity and tracking your performance. Carrying a mobile and using such apps while mountain biking is practical as many riders often carry backpacks. However taking a phone out running or swimming is far from practical so this is where wearable technology wins hands down. There are various GPS watches on the market that measure your performance but Shine… Shine is pretty damn sexy!
You can wear it on your shirt collar, pants pocket, bra, or on the wristband available for purchase with the device. You can set fitness goals through the app, which is now available for iOS, and tap the Shine to see how close you are to achieving your daily fitness goal. Your daily goal is measured in a row of lights, lit up all the way when you reach that goal. The Android version of the app will be available soon for Android 4.0 and above.
Mashable reports that Shine arrives on shelves in Apple stores in the United States, Canada, Hong Kong and Japan. The wearable activity monitor will hopefully arrive in European and Australian Apple Stores next month. It’s also available online at the Misfit Wearables store for $99.95.
